The rulebook

How it works

football·me turns the World Cup into a season-long Tippspiel: join a league, call every scoreline, bank points on each result, and climb your league’s leaderboard. Here’s exactly how points are awarded — and what’s landing next.

Scoring a match

Live now

Every match is scored the same way. You’re rewarded for getting close, not just for nailing it exactly.

Exact score
You called the result on the nose.
4
Goal difference
Right margin, wrong scoreline.
3
Right tendency
Correct winner — or you called the draw.
2
Miss
Wrong outcome, or no prediction at all.
0

Knockout matches are scored on the full-time result, including extra time and penalties — so a final won 1–1 (4–2 on pens) is scored as 6–5.

Making & locking picks

Live now
  • Picks live inside a league. Create or join one to play — and you keep separate predictions in every league you’re in.
  • Predict all 104 fixtures, from the opener to the final. Edit any pick freely until it locks.
  • Each match locks at its own kickoff. Spread-out World Cup days stay fair — a late kickoff doesn’t freeze your picks for the early one.

Hidden picks

Live now

Your predictions are private — nobody else in your league can see them, so there’s no copying and no spoilers. Picks for a match are only ever exposed once it has kicked off. (Showing the crowd’s home / draw / away split after lock is on the horizon.)

Bonus predictions

Coming soon

Beyond match scorelines, a handful of tournament-long calls — locked before the very first match — are worth big points.

Award winners (Golden Boot / Ball / Glove) are confirmed by an admin from the official tournament results once announced.

The leaderboard

Live now

Every league has its own leaderboard. Points land the moment a match ends and totals update live. When two members are level on points, ties break in this order:

  1. 1Most exact-score hits
  2. 2Then most goal-difference hits
  3. 3Then a deterministic fallback, so ranks are always stable

These tie-breakers are live in every league’s standings. A matchday-wins tie-breaker is a planned refinement.

Leagues

Live now

Create a private league or join one with a code — for your group chat, office or family. Everyone predicts the same 104 matches independently, and each league has its own leaderboard ranking its members. Play in as many leagues as you like; your picks in each are separate.

On the horizon

Coming soon
  • Streak badges for consecutive scoring predictions
  • Perfect-day badge when every match that day scores at least a tendency
  • Underdog bonus for calling an away win or draw the crowd didn’t see coming
  • Post-match recaps: who climbed, who slipped, who nailed the exact score
  • Crowd sentiment after lock: the home / draw / away split of everyone’s picks
